Healthy Living: How to Live Longer?

Many factors affect our health. Some of them we can’t control, including genetics or age. But we can make changes to our lifestyle in order to improve health and prolong life. A healthy lifestyle includes a whole range of actions, individual for each person. A number of actions necessary for maintaining a healthy lifestyle varies depending on the characteristics of lifestyle (the presence of bad habits, type of activity, amount of free time). But based on the main components of a healthy lifestyle, you can adhere to the main rules:

  • Enjoy the benefits of a healthy lifestyle

For motivation, imagine the desired result from a healthy lifestyle, including improving the appearance and internal state. These positive changes should encourage you to step on the right path.

  • Make a plan of action

In maintaining a healthy lifestyle, systematicity is crucial, so it is necessary to build a model of behavior over a long period. For example, make a daily routine and try to constantly stick to it. However, you can relax and break the regime sometimes if it is difficult for you.

  • Change your bad habits to useful ones

Useful actions, like harmful ones, with regular repetition are also a habit. If you accustom the body to healthy food, you are unlikely to have the desire to eat fast food, knowing its bad consequences. It is never too late to start leading a healthy lifestyle. But the earlier you start, the greater the effect. So, start right now.

  • Drink water

The human body is 55-78% water. This natural fluid has the properties of moisturizing, nourishing, and improving well-being. Water removes toxins from the body, improves brain function, supplies muscles, controls weight gain, and balances temperature. It is recommended to drink at least 1.5 liters of water per day.

  • Be physically active

Physical activity is good for everyone. You can start exercising at any age with the help of different types of exercises (walking, running, swimming, dancing, aerobics, yoga). The American Heart Association recommends exercising for at least 2.5 hours a week.

  • Avoid excessive sun exposure

Avoid sunlight, using hats and protective sunscreen for the skin. Protecting your face and body from the sun, you can prevent melanoma and other skin cancers, as well as preserve youth, preventing wrinkles.

  • Get nice emotions

Mental health is the basis of the general condition of the body and a necessary condition for receiving pleasure from life. Find sources of good emotions and inspiration. The recognition of your own achievements has a favorable effect on the state of mind. Do things you love, communicating with loved ones, walking with a dog, and so on.

  • Don’t overdo it

Create for yourself a daily routine in which it will be comfortable to lead a healthy lifestyle throughout your life. But don’t overdo it with physical exertion and dietary restrictions. You shouldn’t feel much psychological pressure. A healthy lifestyle should be a pleasure but with discipline.
