Experts still argue until this age about the benefits of eating organic foods compared to those conventionally raised ones. Charles Benbrook, a research professor at Washington State University’s Center for Sustaining Agriculture and Natural Resources was quoted in an article saying that an organic apple, although smaller in size, contains more vitamins and antioxidants compared to the conventionally raised ones.
He further explained that the over-fertilizing of the plant contributes to the increase of calories of an apple.
If this still doesn’t convince you, here are some reasons why you should try to visit your local fair trade for organic spices more often.
Lesser harm to your body
Research from The Organic Center shows that an average American is exposed to 10 to 13 pesticide residue per day. Although there is no actual research that says pesticides have a direct effect on the human body, the Environmental Working Group (EWG) lists 12 of the common food products and the pesticide residue it contains. It will help you decide whether to put your body at risk or you start reinventing your ways.
A study published in 2016 also suggests that when it comes to meat and milk, organic products have 50% more omega-3 fatty acid.
The authors of the study indicated that this is because of the grass-fed diet and the time the animal spent outdoors.
Lesser exposure to antibiotics
With the increasing antibiotic resistance of human beings, it’s no wonder where the cause of this is. It is actually in the meat that we eat.
Although regulations have already been set, yet there are still those who fed antibiotics to these animals to prevent them from getting sick.
There are rather healthier options now for human beings regarding their food consumption. It is still up to you to be up for the challenge.
What is most important now is you take good care of that body that feeds you. After all, you only get one life to live. You wouldn’t want to waste it, right? Happy shopping for organic products!
